The Proving Ground is as far removed from the trappings, attitude and conventions of the modern fitness establishment as one can get. We put function over aesthetics and virtue over vanity. What's more, we encourage the consistent pursuit of elite fitness as a goal of noble stock in and of itself. Performance and sports objectives are wonderful. Many times, they serve as catalysts for an honest look in the mirror. The work that inevitably accompanies the attainment of elite comprehensive physical fitness is a superb vehicle for the development of the character. Like we said, virtue over vanity.
Our choices in tools, out of purpose and necessity, are kept to a minimum. We do not attach ourselves to the latest infomercial fitness contraption. Instead, each tool has multiple purposes and a proven track record of success. They are used accordingly. Excuses like "I can't get to the gym" have no credibility as far as we are concerned.
Our workouts are harsh. Obviously, some are more taxing than others. However, pursuing elite levels of overall fitness is a daunting, exhilarating task. The work required is foreign to most people and not justifiable by many. The myriad physiological mechanisms responsible for physical development using these intense, functional training methods are both numerous and fascinating. These reasons are, however, beyond the scope of this essay. Simply stated, pushing past self imposed limits has ramifications that just begin with the conditioning of the body. This is what we eagerly and purposefully chase.
The Proving Ground is not for everyone. The effort, dedication and demolition of the ego that is required is, for the most part, not an established part of a reality TV show culture. If, however, you have a desire to really know who you are and what you are capable of, this may be the group for you. Regardless, there is only one way you will know.
